On Sunday 26th of January, 2014 JCCSC Officers Installation and CORA and Nikkei Spirit Awards Presentation was held
at Almansor Court in Alhambra.
Blessed with the mild weather in January of Southern California, members of JCCSC, as well as the people from
various Japanese organizations, honoree and their associates started gathering even before the 10:30A.M. registration,
and the reception started at 11:30A.M. with more than 210 people in the lively atmosphere.
After the JCCSC Auditor Mr. Howard Miyoshi made opening remarks and introduced the special guests and past Presidents,
JCCSC Board member and former State Assemblymember Mr. George Nakano introduced the officiant, California State
Controller Mr. John Chiang, who installed the officers. The new officers received warm applause from
all that attended the ceremony.
The ceremony proceeded to the introduction of Board of Directors of JCCSC by Senior Vice President Mr. Mike Okamoto,
then President Mr. Yoshio Lee Aoki's address, greetings from Mr. Sadao Tome(President of Nanka Kenjinkai Kyogikai),
Ms. Ellen Endo(President, Little Tokyo Business Association), Mr. Tanner Blackman(Planning Director, Office of
Jose Huisar, Councilmember District 14), The Honorable Jun Niimi(Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles),
then Mr. Derek Furukawa,President of Southern Californa Gardeners' Federation proposed a toast,
and the luncheon started.
By the end of the Luncheon, the silent auction item was all sold out. Followed was the award ceremony.
The Aurora Foundaion and Hokubei Hyakudokai have received the Community Organization Recognition Awards.
Dr. Akiko Agishi, President from the Aurora Foundation , and Mr. Tak Nishi, President of Hokubei Hyakudokai made
words of appreciation. Also made words of appreciation were Mr. Rodney Kageyama and Madame Matsutoyo Sato,
who have received Nikkei Spirit Awards.
After the "Sanbonjime" by Senior Vice President Kaz Kishita, the ceremony was finished with the closing remarks
by Mr. Howard Miyoshi.
