On Saturday November 30th, annual Year-End Charity Drive started with the Kick-off Ceremony held at
Japanese Village Plaza in downtown Little Tokyo.
Blessed with nice and warm weather, committee members of Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Southern California,
as well as the guests and the representative from participating organizations gathered in pleasant atmosphere
around 1pm to start the ceremony.
After the opening remarks by the Vice President Mr. Howard Miyoshi, greeting by Senior
Vice President Mr. Kaz Kishita followed.
The ceremony proceeded to the messae from Mr. Suga Masahiro, Deputy Consul of the Japanese Consulate in Los Angeles,
then to the introduction of the guests. President of Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Southern California
Mr. Yoshio Aoki and Nissei Queen Court gave a speech, then representative from participating organizations
to cooperate the Year-End Charity Drive was introduced.
JCCSC President Mr. Yoshio Aoki went onto the stage again to give a Words of Appreciation from JCCSC,
and the ceremony was over within a joyous atmosphere with the closing remarks from Mr. Howard Miyoshi.
The end of the ceremony is the start of the drive. Since one of the purpose of this year's charity drive is the
Philippines typhoon disaster relief, representatives from the Philippines Chamber of Commerce visited the
site where the members of JCCSC and volunteers' call of "Year-End charity drive, donation please!" "Philippins
need help!"was constantly heard, collecting warm and heartful donations from the people strolling in
Japanese Village Plaza.
The solicitation is scheduled on three weekends of November 30 (Sat), December 1 (Sun), December 7 (Sat),
December 8(Sun), December 14( Sat) and December 15 (Sun), in locations of Japanese Village Plaza,
Marukai Weller Court in Little Tokyo, main store at Artesia Blvd and Pacific Square store in Gardena, and
Mitsuwa Costa Mesa store.
